The Power of Pomegranate

Pomegranate is an ancient fruit with a rich history of uses in traditional medicine. The juice, extract and oil, which are derived from the seed of the fruit, are rich in anti-oxidants that fight free radicals that can damage and age the skin. Pomegranate oil is also a good source of certain nutrients like punicic acid, an Omega 5 conjugated fatty acid, as well as phytoestrogens and a rare, plant-based source of conjugated linoleic acid. We use it in some of our face and lip products to replenish moisture.

A recent study from the University of Michigan Medical School, published in the February 2006 Journal of Ethnopharmacology, shows that pomegranate seed oil helps stimulate skin cell regeneration. This study joins a growing body of research supporting the benefits of pomegranate seed oil as a skin treatment, including a 2003 South Dakota State University study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food.
