How do Burt's Bees Natural Toothpastes compare to other brands?

Burt's Bees Natural Toothpastes are natural, effective toothpastes clinically proven to improve oral health. With regular brushing, they prevent cavities (fluoride versions only), reduce plaque, whiten teeth by removing surface stains, and freshen breath. We use sodium cocoyl glutamate, a natural foaming agent, instead. Additionally other toothpastes contain, propylene glycol, a synthetic petrochemical, used to help retain water and maintain consistency. We use vegetable glycerin, naturally derived from plants, instead.

What is tartar and does the line address tartar control?

Tartar is a mineral deposit that forms when plaque hardens on teeth's surface. All of our toothpastes are clinically proven to improve oral health. With regular brushing, our toothpastes will help you reduce plaque, which in turn helps teeth stay healthy and avoid the formation of tartar. Once tartar is formed, it can only be addressed by professional treatment.

If fluoride is an important ingredient in toothpaste—why are there fluoride-free formulas in your line?
