Purpose:
To conduct testing in order to ensure bulk products meet product quality specifications and use in-depth knowledge of analytical test methods, raw materials, etc. in order to support process troubleshooting activities. To work with Quality, Compounding Department and Production Department personnel to efficiently and consistently attain bulk product that meets specification.
- Conduct detailed analytical testing for bulk/raw materials
- To assist the Process Engineering team in data collection and analysis
- Assist in data collection and analysis of NCR investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, trouble-shooting, etc.
- Assist in properly identifying and analyzing issues concerning bulk/raw material non-conformances, etc.
- Utilize design of experiments approach to test bulk and raw materials.
- Track batches and investigate non-conforming lots.
- Determine the cause of rejection and develop strategies to prevent problems from reoccurring.
- Work closely with Compounding, R&D, Quality Resources and Production Department personnel to optimize processes and reduce cycle times.
- Identify test and implementation methods to enhance current practices.
- Perform tests on bulk and raw materials such as viscosity, pH, melting points, % water, rheology, particle size analysis, etc.
- Observe and comply with all applicable Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.
- Observe and comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Maintain excellent team relationships.
- Investigate problems with product or raw materials and recommend remediation and preventive actions.
- Assist other department personnel whenever needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BS Degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry, with industry experience in formulation, and/or in a research, analytical or Quality Department laboratory
- Proficient use in Microsoft Office is required.
- Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning is required.
- Demonstrated ability in operating industrial testing equipment, including a penetrometer, GC, IR, spectrometer, rheometer, melting point apparatus, viscometer, pH meter, etc., is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency to detail and organizational skills are required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing and speaking English is required.
