Here are some simple tips:
• Make your own smoothie freezer bags: Bag everything up in smoothie batches, so when you are ready you just have to reach into your freezer and pop them in your blender.
• Prep the night before: Put everything into the blender pitcher and pop it in the fridge at night. In the morning, just grab the pitcher out of the blender, add any remaining ingredients and whirl up your breakfast smoothie. Items that will get soggy or brown, like granola, avocado and apples, should be tossed in right before blending.
• Use about-to-turn produce: Have an avocado that's about to go bad and you won't have a chance to use? Put it in a smoothie to add fiber and omega-3s—and to minimize kitchen waste. Ditto with browning bananas.
• Make big batches: Have some mason jars and produce to spare? Make big batches of smoothies ahead of time and freeze them—simply thaw out in the fridge the night before.
